Regrettably the A-Main result for Night 2 of the 2018 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic has not been determined.
In a cruel twist, the event was cut short as a result of Mother Nature and her intermittent showers.
The program was “weather-challenged” with light showers on many occasions throughout the night.
With great persistence shown by Premier Speedway Management, staff and the crowd (and a bit of luck), we were able to toil through the majority of the program …..right up to the A-Main preliminaries …….and then came another shower.
The death knell to the feature !!
The cars had all been engine started and rolled several laps before being directed to the infield while the intent of the Weather Gods was determined.
There was no break in the precipitation and the track surface had become potentially treacherous.
In the interest of competitors safety and car owners capital investments, the very difficult decision was made to defer the 2018 Night 2 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic A-Main until 4pm tomorrow (21st Jan).
That decision came as no big surprise and was really the only direction that made true sense.
While no spectator likes to go home without an ultimate result, the acceptance of the A- Main deferral was underscored by the fact that the crowd offered no verbal exchange when commentator Gavin White diplomatically made the apologetic announcement.
So all good there….and good call Premier Speedway – we will do it all tomorrow at 4pm.
Earlier in the evening USA Driver Parker Price-Miller set overall Quick Time with a time of 10.608 sec
– Not Bad for a young gun that has never raced a lap at Premier Speedway and after just 4 hot laps bagged the quickest rotator award – INCREDIBLE STUFF !
