Robbie Farr finally broke through and bagged the Sat Nov 25th A-Main at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway.
Robbie Farr did it in that typical gritty Farr fashion ahead of a very popular barnstorming effort by local Matt Dumesny and Top Ender Ben Atkinson.
It was also Pink Night to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation and a huge crowd was on hand to support the great cause.
An announcement that caught some by complete surprise was that Wade Aunger was leaving fulltime employment at Valvoline Raceway. More on this later.
Check out the image of Matt Dumesny in Qualifying – on the gas and hooked up or what !! (Good one Gary !!)
Matt Dumesny was on fire all night, setting quick time in his flight (12.002sec) and winning his heat race.
Robbie Farr played second fiddle to Matt Dumesny for most of the A-Main, but with 5 laps to go jumped on the loud pedal on a restart that saw him catapult to the lead and go on to take the chequers ahead of Matt Dumesny and Ben Atkinson.
Sam Walsh set the VR Clay on fire in flight 2 qualifying with a scintillating 11.966 sec lap. He also won his heat and was fancied for the feature. Unfortunately while running in 3rd in the A-Main, an uncharacteristic spin cost Walsh any chance of victory. He was sent to the rear of the field and battled back to finish P11.
Grant Anderson won the hard charger award starting out in P15 and crossing the line in 4th.
The C-Main was taken out by Michael Saller while Troy Little won the B-Main.
Here’s how local ace photographer Gary Reid saw the event:
