Perth Motorplex opened its 2017/18 racing season last Saturday night in fine style despite a major threat of weather cancelling the event. Local ace Shaun Bradford triumphed in front of a huge crowd and drove one of his best-ever races.
It must have been a worry for Motorplex officials as inclement weather during much of the day played havoc with event planning.
However, in the true spirit of “The Plex” Gavin Migro and his Team of tireless experts worked hard and presented one of the best tracks seen at the Kwinana Beach venue in many seasons.
Shaun Bradford was spectacular in taking a hugely popular win for the first round of the AHG Series, avenging the disappointment of seven days ago where steering issues precluded him for winning the Bonza Bradford Memorial – the annual race at Pithara Speedway that honours his Dad.
Bradford started a lowly 12th on the grid and not many in the crowd gave him a chance.
But embellished with that true determination that is simply a “Bradford Trait”, Shaun steered his immaculate W57 across the finish line to score a convincing win ahead of up and coming Andrew Priolo and former AHG Champion Jamie Maiolo.
Interestingly Priolo had come from P7 on the grid, but the hard charger award had to go to Maiolo who started out of position sixteen.
Here’s how Peter Roebuck caught the action of the event:
