Sydney Valvoline Raceway Abandons March 4 Meeting due to Severe Rain

Words : Paul Griffin

Spare a thought for Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway – The meeting scheduled for tomorrow night (Sat March 4th) has been abandoned due to heavy rain.

Rain has been falling all week in metro Sydney as well as much of NSW, and more is scheduled for today and thunderstorms due tomorrow.

Great for the farmers as they have been doing it really tough, but not so good for Speedway tragics.

The Parramatta clay oval, pits and spectator areas have taken an absolute thumping.

The blue ribbon venue is utterly sodden and simply won’t come back to shape given more rain is going to come down.

Valvoline Raceway is finding it astonishingly difficult to get a Sprintcar meeting in just of late with that last two meetings being cancelled as well.

The Feb 11 Valvoline Raceway meeting was cancelled due to extreme heat (44 degrees) and the very next meeting after that (Feb 18) was cancelled due to torrential rain.

The following posts from a few weeks ago depict these extreme weather events:
