Valvoline Raceway Washout – Sat 18th Feb

Words: Paul Griffin

Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway can’t take a trick at the moment.

Last weeks Sprintcar Meeting was cancelled due to extreme heat (44 degrees Celsius – 111 Degrees Fahrenheit) and yesterday VR Officials were reluctantly forced to cancel the second Sprintcar meeting in just seven days due to wild weather.

Friday saw the start of the tempest with wild storm cells sweeping across the Sydney sky that brought massive rainfall and hailstones the size of tennis balls.

The same weather pattern was to shown its hand on Saturday as well with a repeat of massive rainfall, hailstorms and lightning.

Two women sheltering under a tree in a Sydney Metro park were struck by lightning and rushed to hospital.
