The Perth Motorplex and indeed many of Australian Clayways will be blessed with having American Dominic Scelzi race at their venues this season.
Dominic, son of high profiled professional drag racer Gary Scelzi, recently announced a partnership with the Perth-based Wormall Sprintcar Team to campaign the USA 1 car.
The intense racing program will kick off at the iconic Perth Motorplex after Dominic has completed the final few races on the teams USA calendar and will take in a host of blue ribbon races across the Australia, culminating in the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic on January 20, 21 and 22 2017.
Scelzi attended last nights Perth Motorplex practice session along with a handful of other Wormall Motorsport Sprintcars to get the feel of the unique high-banked “Downtown Kwinana Beach” complex.
Watching the USA #1 car circulate in the American livery brought back memories of Dean Jacob’s multi-season race stint in the early 2000’s.
If that was anything to go by, the Scelzi Sojourn to Australia is going to be something pretty special.
