Brooke Tatnell driving the WA#2 Krikke Motorsport Cool took victory spoils on Night 1 (Fri 23 Jan) of the Lucas Oils Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic from pole sitter Ian Madsen and former Classic Champion Ian Loudoun.

Three-time Classic winner Brooke Tatnell got his Cool cranked right up, starting the race with a very tight set up but maturing to be the quickest rig on the Sungold Stadium Clayway when it counted – the last 5 laps.

During the race an entertaining battle raged between Ian Loudoun, Jamie Veal and local hero Darren Mollenoyux. Loudoun prevailed but both Molly’s and Veal’s efforst were herculean, particularly Jamie Veal coming for P17 after a B-Main transfer to be in the mix for a possible podium.

Earlier in the program Robbie Farr signalled that his Classic intentions were serious when he cracked around Sungold Stadium and set quick time (10.961 sec) – the only driver into the 10 second bracket. American Terry McCarl was 2nd with 11.043 sec followed by Brooke Tatnell (11.150), Daniel Pestka (11.181) and Brad Keller (11.216).

Heat wins were taken out by Robbie Farr, Terry McCarl, Brooke Tatnell, Daniel Pestka, Ian Madsen, Matthew Dumesny, Danny Holtgraver, Darren Mollenoyux, Brendan Balcombe and Trevor Green.
