The second AHG Series meeting on Saturday November 2 doubled the annual Magic Man Tribute event honouring the late and great Michael Figliomeni.
David Priolo got off to a strong night in time trials setting fourth fastest (14.572 seconds) and crossed the line fifth in his opening heat race.
He raced up to second in his next outing – recording a sizzling 13.667 second lap in the process.
After starting from position 4 in the 34-lap Magic Man tribute event, Priolo moved up to third on lap 11. He took over second spot on lap 25 when the race leader Mark Wells retired from the event.
Priolo closed on the race leader Jason Kendrick and then flew around him on the final turn to snatch a brilliant victory.
“This win is really special for me,” said Priolo. “Michael Figliomeni was one of my childhood heroes when I was going to the races with my father at Claremont Speedway each week.
“Tonight is even more special as I have got his cousin Rick Geneve on the spanners. “It was a great job by the boys in getting the win tonight.
“Big thanks to everyone who chipped in and helped while the majority of the team were in Sydney with the drag racing commitments.
“It was a hell of a race with JK (Jason Kendrick).”
Priolo currently sits in second place in the AHG Sprintcar Series pointscore and SA’s Luke Dillon took home double points after playing his Joker.
Round three of the competition takes place this coming Saturday evening at the Quit Bunbury Speedway.
