The running of the final and deciding round of WSS (World Series Sprintcars) at Perth Motorplex saw Steven Lines driving the Halls Haulage/Bridgestone Tyres Albany sponsored W3 KPC take Preliminary Night honours with a crushing victory over Cameron Gessner in the W41 Cowara Contractors entry and the ubiquitous South Australian Luke Dillon in the #81 entry.
Lines did it like nobody else could – gassing it up in the closing stages of the race to increase his lead from local rival Gessner and crossing the finish line with a sheared rear axle and no right wheel.
It was a stunning and devastating performance from Steven Lines and will make the final WSS Championship deciding night at Perth Motorplex (23 Feb) very interesting indeed. Winning car Team Principal Brian Hall was naturally ecstatic with the end result and reckons its “Game On” tonight for the Final.
So in summary final placings for Night 1 were Steven Lines Cameron Gessner and Luke Dillon. Rounding out the top 5 were the Geraldton Jet Mark Wells in a welcoming return to form and American Tim Kaeding in the Krikke Motorsport #2.
During the running of the Preliminary A-Main SA’s Daniel Pestka was driving brilliantly in second place to leader Steven Lines when he took a Wild Ride while negotiating around a back marker. Kerry Madsen equally took a big unfortunate dump while evading an incident ahead of him.
Earlier in the night Shaun Bradford (W57) was in scintillating form and set Quick Time with a blistering 13.541seconds from Steven Lines (13.656) and Jamie Maiolo (W99) with a 13.726 seconds time.
Heats were won by Kye Scroop, Robbie Farr and Young Gun Ben Butcher is what was his first World Series Sprintcars race win.
The action continues tonight at Perth Motorplex and the WSS Champion will be decided for 2013.
