As Torque Tube Media reported back in July, Ryan Farrell has teamed up again with old racing buddies Steve Stathy and Brand Passmore to make a full on attack on the 2012/13 Sprintcar season in Western Australia.
The Team, known as Diamond Bay Motorsport, is backed by some pretty big hitters. Talking with Team Manager Steve Stathy yesterday at the unveiling of the new racecar at Bunbury Auto Group WA, he acknowledged the massive assistance the Team receives from:Russell Hall’s Bunbury Auto Group Philmac Diamond Bay Enterprises Aussie Outdoor Autostyle Spraypainters Contract Fencing Autosmart South West Skwid Signs Maxwill Race Engines Passmore Automotive CIVI Test Sou West Penrite Oils Revolution Racegear Arai Helmets
The thing about this sweet arrangement is that you have one of the best Sprintcar Drivers on the Planet teamed up with two guys who together as a Team back in early to mid 2000’s simply clicked and achieved what can only be described as astonishing success.
They were indeed a formidable force in WA Sprintcar racing and routinely made the best Teams in the Nation take a back seat. And guess what……..They are about to do it all over again !
Steve Stathy and Brand Passmore not only admire and trust Ryan Farrell implicitly, they also have a great mutual respect for one another and share the crew-chiefing and car set up duties – something that is virtually unheard of in Sprintcar Racing – in some ways two heads are better than one when it comes to getting that perfect sweet set-up on the night !
Russell Hall from Bunbury Auto Group is delighted to be the major Marketing Partner of the Diamond Bay Motorsport Team and said “I wouldn’t be supporting anyone else. We’ve had a great relationship over the years. The Diamond Bay Team is a very professional outfit and I know my investment is sound. All the ingredients are there for a big and successful season.”
Steve Stathy also paid his deepest gratitude to Russell Hall (Bunbury Auto Group) – The Team’s workshop lease expired in unexpected terms, and at short notice Russell Hall came to the party without hesitation and offered immediate floor space and servicing arrangements within the Bunbury Auto Group facilities. Steve said “The Team simply wouldn’t be as advanced in race prep without this awesome gesture from Russell Hall’s Bunbury Auto Group”
Ryan Farrell, normally synonymous with the #95 tail tank, will be piloting the Team’s #26 Maxim that was unveiled yesterday at Bunbury Auto Group Headquarters. Steve Stathy indicated that on special occasions such as the Krikke Boys Shootout the Team will race a WA95 variant to maintain the honour and respect that we all know the #95 stands for.
The Team has at their disposal three new Maxim Chassis’s – in fact two are completely assembled ready-to-race, and the other is a spare that sits “roof-side” in the transporter. All the running gear is available in the transporter to assemble this as a 3rd complete raceable car literally within minutes.
Peter Morris from Maxwill Race Engines in South Australia will provide the “motorvation” for the #26 Maxim. The Diamond Bay Motorsport Team have access to three fully prepared 410 Maxwill “Grunters” and intend racing at all key events in WA including Motorplex rounds, Battery All Types Southern Thunder Series and World Series Sprintcar events. Their first outing will be at Perth Motorplex on November 3rd.
The plan at this juncture is to focus on WA this season, lay a foundation and then look at the possibilities of national penetration in season 2013/14.
Having watched in astonishment at what this group of guys achieved several seasons ago, there are many keen race fans that know they are in for a huge treat this season when Ryan Farrell and the Diamond Bay Motorsport Team hit the “Clay of WA”.
