Rising WA star Jason Kendrick took out the annual Sprintcar Silver cup a week ago on Saturday 7th April at Perth Motorplex from Carl Dowling, Ian Madsen, American Kaley Gharst and NSW’s Troy Little.
Earlier in the evening, Brad Maiolo set quick time with 14.290 seconds – Brad’s 2nd Quick Time of the season.
Carl Dowling won both his heats and Ian Madsen and Jamie Maiolo won the other 2 heats.
The Top 8 Shootout provided some really great action with 6 of the 8 speedsters being under the existing Jeff Leisk Track Record of 12.780 sec from way back in 2002 (372 CI days). In the end Shaun Bradford was quickest with a scintillating 12.615 sec to reset the history books.
The 30 lap A-Main saw Shaun Bradford bolt to the front and look invincible, but with 9 laps remaining he tragically blew a right rear. This then allowed Jason Kendrick to take over the lead and coast through for his 4th A-Main victory this season.
The Final Sprintcar round at The Perth Motorplex (Kwinana) will be held on April 21st and will double as the Sprintcar Gold Cup. Jamie Maiolo leads the AHG Series Championship on 2960 points from Jason Kendrick on 2826 and Bradley Maiolo on 2679. The 2102 AHG Series Championship will go right down to the wire no doubt.
