Their program starts on December 26th for Night 1 of Speedweek at Speedway City -Adelaide and concludes a month later on January 28th for the Final Night of the Australian Championship at the same venue.
It’s a rigorous program taking in a total of ten nights of racing and includes visits to Speedway City, Murray Bridge, Borderline – Mount Gambier, Avalon Raceway – Victoria, and Premier Speedway – Warrnambool.
The Bradford team will be in amongst big car counts and the best drivers in the nation, including those WSS contracted pilots. Shaun is only 25 years old and has only ever raced at Murray Bridge and Warrnambool in a 360. That was around 4 years ago.
Torque Tube Media asked Shaun why the big decision to leave his local AHG Series where he routinely does so very well. Shaun said “Well at the end of the day it’s all about experience. Making the commitment to go over East and race many different tracks in South Australia and Victoria against the best drivers in the country is exactly what we need to do. We have a great car, a great Team and we believe we can be competitive. The experience that we will get in doing this will be priceless.”
As far as the Team goes, Bradford Racing has just come off the back of a very successful race at Pithara Speedway WA. Both Shaun and his brother Casey ran 410’s in the Bonza Bradford Memorial. This is the race in honour of their Father Ian “Bonza” Bradford, and it carries a huge prestige about it. Shaun stormed away from the field to take a well deserved 1st place and Casey ( a former 360 racer who hasn’t raced in over 6 years) came home in 4th place. Both Shaun and Casey ran identical #57 Memorial cars that wore the exact livery of their Father’s car of many years ago.
The Team has access to two Quick Time Chassis’s, four 410 power plants and has a brand new Transporter with all the spares and appointments one could wish for.
We asked Shaun about the Quick Time Chassis’s. “Half way through last season we ran the first Quick Time Chassis. We were doing really well with it and ran really well at the Krikke Boys Shootout. The QT Chassis’s are great. The Team only has to change basics to make them work – pretty much tyre stagger and wheel offsets are about all we alter and the car is quick every time. So far this season we have set two Quick Times and we have had numerous podium finishes” Shaun explained.
Shaun is ably supported by his crew:
- Mike Oliver (car owner, and major sponsor “Carahaul WA”)
- Michael “Reidy” Reid (Crew Chief)
- Casey Bradford (Shaun’s older brother, former 360 Sprintcar racer)
- Lindon Mazalevskis (longtime sponsor and friend)
- Gavin Criddle (Good mate)
- Ian “Dizzy” Woods (WA16 Sprintcar racer and expression session expert)
In terms of Sponsorship Partners Bradford Racing is assisted by a few long time Supporters as well as some fairly recent ones too. Shaun wishes to acknowledge the fabulous support provided by:
Carahaul WA, GKR Transport, KTEQ Rentals, Scardifields Smash Repairs, Bishop Transport, Cool Spark, M&L Quality Meats, Valvoline, Vawdrey, Bohaul Express, Pymont Transport, East Pilbara Tyre Service, GB Tyres
Shaun commented “Without the help from all these companies and people, the “TEAM DREAM” to head East this Summer would not have become reality. I thank them all.”
We wish Shaun and Team all the best in this “Eastern Sojourn”.
Here is the Bradford Racing Calender. Make sure you make the effort to see Shaun race this summer – you won’t be disappointed.
