Torque Tube Media recently attended the Sprintcar Invitational Jackpot at Avalon Raceway where $10,000 was up for grabs for the winner (Oct 15th)
The field was a ripper with 31 cars nominated and big names like Ryan Farrell, Robbie Farr, James McFadden, Dave Murcott, Max Dumesny, Trevor Green, Stephen Bell and a host of stellar local and not so local talent. As you will have possibly read, the race was rain affected and cancelled with just one race completed.
At the start of the evening we caught up with WA throttle stomper Ryan Farrell and had a quiet talk about his new ride and what lies ahead for season 2011/12.
Ryan has hooked up with Victorian car owner Colin Bulmer and will race a truckload of Eastern States races in the brand new V2 Bayaire Industries Eagle. In fact the Avalon Oct 15th meeting was the first time out for the racecar. Colin Bulmer is no stranger to the scene and hosted none other than USA driver Shane Stewart last year.
The Bayaire Industries (Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contracting) Sponsored Team will be based down south on the East Coast and will take in various shows particularly the “biggies” like The Classic, Australian Title, The Masters, and all the World Series Rounds in and around the Eastern States.
The car is immaculate, and to use Ryan’s words “Wants for nothing”. A killer KRE 410 Chevy provides the motivation for this very special mount. Everything is brand-spankers and the rig really does look superb. Finished off with a jet black high gloss paint scheme that you could easily use as a mirror to shave with, the livery comes to life with blue and yellow highlights. The Eagle #2 looks simply stunning and is a real eye-catcher.
By the time the Australian Title has been run in late January 2012 at Speedway City – Adelaide, Ryan will have clocked up more than 20 shows in the #2 Eagle. He then plans to return to Western Australia to race for Brian Hall in the Hall’s Motorsport team to do shows like the Krikke Boys, WA State Title, and the World Series Rounds at Kalgoorlie, Albany, Manjimup, Bunbury, and Perth Motorplex. This Western Australian stint is still to be confirmed and formally announced, but as Ryan indicated to Torque Tube Media, from his side it’s all pencilled in.
Ryan told me in the pits at Avalon “I’m a very competitive guy and I race to win”. His plans this year are to do as best as he possibly can and have a great season. Ryan is full of confidence and reminded me in no certain terms that right now he is driving as good he ever has. I am sure he’s right.
Look out !
Ryan Farrell has the determination, firepower and backing to have a killer season. I reckon he could even be wearing A1 in the New Year.
