STOP PRESS: Joey Saldana returns to World of Outlaws competition – Hartford Motor Speeday 21st September 2011

Joey Saldana - A lot of determination, support and physio has lead to a racing return sooner than most thought - pic

I am pleased to announce that Joey Saldana will rejoin the Red Bull Team in the familiar #9 Maxim this Wednesday 21st September at Hartford Motor Speedway in Michigan after recovering from a racing accident over two months ago.

I was at Eldora back on the 17th July for the World of Outlaws Kings Royal gig when Joey took a massive hit on turn 2 that resulted in him suffering broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a fractured right forearm requiring surgery. Most thought at the time and in the days following the accident that that was going to be curtains for Joey for the rest of the season.

But Joey surprised us all – his intrinsic fitness, burning desire to return to racing and first class medical treatment have meant that he indeed does intend to buckle back up this week at Hartford. Have a look at one physio exercise Joey undertook to build back the strength in his forearm and test the healing of his punctured lung – check out

He intends to back up the Hartford event with World of Outlaws sanctioned events at Eldora Friday 23rd September and Lernerville the following night.

It was a pretty serious time for Joey and his Family while he was on the mend and it’s great to see he’s back so soon. The entire Worldwide Sprintcar fraternity wish him a successful and safe return.

Kasey Kahne Racing is ecstatic at the prospect of Joey “padding up” again. The Team also recognises the brilliant job that Brad Sweet has done over the last couple of months standing in for Joey.

Good One Joey !

We’re rootin’ for ya !!!!!!!!!!!
