Fairwell to America

It’s 7am on August 16th 2011 and in just over an hour we are heading into Chicago to drop off the two motor homes, then  grab a Taxi to Chicago airport, a plane to LA, and finally a plane to Melbourne. Our journey to America has been just over 51/2 weeks, has seen us clock up 5640 miles (9000 kms) and visit some very special locations. It has been a memorable experience – one that we will never forget.

Those "Two" Motohomes that travelled 9000 km in 5.5 weeks

With regard to the last two posts before this, I won’t get a chance to drop the photos into the posts until we arrive back in Australia. So please give me until the end of the week on that. There are some awesome pictures from my mate Brayden Miller that you will really like plus some other stuff from Night 3 and 4 that I have taken.

A quick thank you to all the American people we met & hung out with during our stay – thanks for looking after us.

As Arnie said “We’ll be back !”

Our Travelling Group & some of our American friends that looked after us - just minutes before leaving Knoxville

Torque Tube will continue to operate into the future bringing you race reports of the Sprintcar meetings we attend in Australia, Sprintcar History/Memorabilia and interesting info relating to Sprintcars. We’ll even get a Sprintcar crossword together, maybe some quiz stuff, and short videos like all the on-board expression session videos that I have of Ian Woods (WA 16)…………..   And of course requests are always welcome.

There is still a big bunch of stuff from our American trip that we will bring you in the coming weeks, including a ripper interview with The Father of the Sprintcar – Bob Trostle (it’s unbelievable – Bob was great to talk to), a walk through the National Sprintcar Hall of Fame and Museum at Knoxville, more behind the scenes stuff from the Speedways we went to in The States, a closer look at the Knoxville track, plus a whole heap more. I just know you’ll love it !

Thanks for visiting the site, leave a comment if you like it and tell your friends about it.

Good Racin’ to all and congrats to Donny Schatz for becoming the 2011 Knoxville nationals Champion for a 5th time.  Good stuff Donny !
